The Scientology Ethics system was an invention by Hubbard to control people. He had to make others wrong and himself right. The entire system of Scientology was constructed to keep his fraud alive. Parishioners had to live in an information bubble. The Truman Show had to go on. There was no safe exit strategy. Surely, he believed in his system, but he was also aware of his own evil personality. There was a lot to hide. At times when communication was slow and inefficient his strategy did work out.
The ethics system made it easier for him to be himself. He could yell at people and still blame them. And whatever was going wrong, it was the unconscious evil purposes of his fellows … for sure not him. A Scientologist would normally ask such person right away: “What are your overts?”
But in this case they did not dare to ask. Hubbard had perfect mind slaves.
Hubbard was in Power Condition
How smart to make this an ethics condition and place it near the top! Does it have to do with ethics at all? Does the ethics system have to do with ethics, working conditions, both or none?
Being in power surely does not mean that you are ethical. We know Kim Jong-un and his terror regime. We also know David Miscavige. And there were Hitler, Stalin, Henry VIII etc.
Certainly being in power does not mean that you are ethical. Especially when you look at the definition how Scientology describes it:
Ethics is reason and the contemplation of optimum survival.
(Page 80, Scientology Ethics, L. Ron Hubbard, March 1982 Edition)
But whose “optimum survival” are we talking about? According to Hubbard himself he refers to the 8 dynamics, which more or less tell to consider as many people, objects, animals etc. as possible.
And Hubbard had to make clear to others that this was exactly what he was doing. There is a lot about his behaviour on the internet. His minions were committing one legal limbo after the other and finally Scientology was conducting the biggest infiltration of the USA history. They got caught and it is a miracle that Scientology does still exist. They just kept on going with the next dirty operation against the IRS.
David Miscavige mentioned something like this on TV: “I am in power, because people listen to me.”
Indeed people with a lot of communication lines do have power. But this is not the question here. Let me point out again that this has nothing to do with “ethics”.
The Scientology Ethics system is a control system. And you should definitely read the chapters “Rewards and penalties (Ethics book)” while being sober and not under the influence of that cult. Scientology ethics is a justice system to protect only one person. And that was L. Ron Hubbard … these days it is David Miscavige.
The Scientology Ethics book is as dangerous as all other Scientology books. The amounts of half-truths make them dangerous. People find something they can agree with. The problem with humans is that they start generalising and think that all must be true then.
Hubbard once said: With Power comes the need for responsibility. Doesn’t it imply power and responsibility are not naturally going hand in hand?
And with Power comes ethics protection. In Scientology you are more or less infallible then. It explains why David Miscavige never needs to “put ethics in”. And his minions even try to protect him from any legal prosecution. He is always right and others are always wrong …. BECAUSE HE IS IN POWER.
David Miscavige’s power will vanish when his communication lines vanish. In fact that is happening right now:
